drinking: Good Earth lemongrass green tea with honey (my current favorite)
eating: My mom’s pasta salad and an avocado
currently reading: Cleopatra by Stacy Schiff (still)
listening to: Panic at the Disco’s newest album, Vices & Virtues
waiting for: My mom to get back so we can go eat Mexican
plugging: Crash Course!
Unfortunately, nothing interesting never really happened for me to blog about…. So, here comes one of those “list blogs,” an idea directly stolen from Shriya, because not a single one of these points is enough to blog about.
001}. I highly suggest y’all visit the site I’m plugging up above, Crash Course! It’s a site run by John and Hank Green, or Nerdfighteria, Vlogbrothers, and DFTBA fame. It’s pretty much what it sounds like: a YouTube channel that will give you little mini “crash courses” about subjects in world history (my favorite) and bio. If you’re a nerd, and you like learning, check it out.
002}. Similarly, John Green is one of my favorite authors. The dude’s just . . . perfect, one of those type of writers I strive to be like but never will. His most recent book, The Fault in Our Stars, has been chilling on my bookshelf since the beginning of the semester. I didn’t have time to read it last semester (CCR’s not the only thing to take a hit from college life; I have become woefully out of practice reading and writing). I read it at the start of summer, about a month ago. It took me one night, and let me just say: wow. I didn’t think he could get better, but TFiOS is his masterpiece. It’s smart, heartbreaking, and hilarious all at once. Give it a shot—it’s one of those books everyone should read at least once in their life. I’m just glad I have a signed copy.
003}. My birthday is tomorrow, June 28th. I’m turning 19. And I still don’t know how I feel about it. =/ I don’t like the fact that my life is flying by—aging terrifies me. I have a doctor’s appointment at 3pm tomorrow, and that’s about as exciting as my day’s going to get. It’s going to be more of a quiet family affair than a loud one, and I’m actually not upset by that. My dad gave me $50 and I’ve already blown through that. I went out to eat with friends a few times, and then bought a necklace pendant and the second season of Community. I told Mom all I want for my birthday from her is for her to help me out with my friggin’ FAFSA so I can go back to school next year.
004}. I’ve been listening to a lot of Panic at the Disco’s new album, Vices & Virtues. And it’s my favorite one of theirs so far. But my favorite song at the moment is Ships in the Night by Mat Kearney. I’m not a huge hip-hop fan, but I’m a sucker for amazing lyrics, and Mat Kearney’s voice is wonderful. Check that out, too. I listen to it on repeat a hundred times a day, and I’m still not sick of it.
005}. I’m going to start posting these blogs on my tumblr, too. I’ve realized CCR is pretty far behind on the whole social media gig. I hate Twitter and refuse to join. No offense to anyone with a Twitter meant—I just don’t like it because I don’t like the pressure to update everyone on what I’m doing constantly; I have a hard enough time updating my Facebook status. And my Facebook is my own personal one, and only a few people have access to that. My attempt to join Socialien fell through, though I may try to start that again. So all that’s left is Tumblr, and I’m gonna try to get CCR out there by posting more updates and whatnot, not just reblogging a crapton of The Legend of Korra .GIFs. Follow me and I’ll follow you.
006}. I’m completely at a lost for what to add to the site. I don’t know what people use. I’ve been thinking maybe some more brushes, because when I added some last summer, there seemed to be a positive reaction. I’ve been considering giving making textures another shot. Just let me know what you want, and I’ll see what I can do.
007}. My requests have been doing pretty well this summer. I think adding a simple form has made people more willing to ask for things. I’ve been slow at getting them done, but that should change here soon. If you need anything, and it’s in my capability to make it, send me a request.
008}. For those asking, the bathroom’s been going well! I didn’t get any pictures, because I went away a few days ago, came back, and my father had pretty much fixed everything up. When I was home last night, he just needed to grout the tiles and hang up all the pictures, and then he’s done. So thanks to everyone who expressed concern or laughed at that whole situation. I love you guys.
That’s all for now, folks.
